What is Specially Denatured Alcohol?

Specially Denatured Alcohol (SDA) is alcohol to which denaturants have been added to pure alcohol rendering it undrinkable.  Manufacturers of industrial and some food applications can use SDA in the manufacturing of any product that is not intended for consumption. SDA is commonly used in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, and industrial applications where SDA is the solvent or reactant.
